“In my opinion the false ricasso manufactured by Twin Arms Fencing is an excellent alternative for those unable to obtain foil blades of Italian architecture.  Fused to its arches and crossbar, the unit affords a stable grip.  When properly assembled, there is no wobbling or rolling of the blade. It is sturdy, handles well, and comes in both a standard size, and a slightly larger one to accommodate fencers with uncommonly large hands.  Its crossbar, somewhat larger in diameter than the norm, is more comfortable to the middle finger.  Although the ricasso portion of the unit is slightly thicker than the ricasso of an authentic Italian blade, the difference is insignificant with respect to handling and sensitivity of touch.”
